Over the past 6 months I have been slowly transforming our home into a toxic free environment. I never noticed ingredient labels until one day I just glanced at my shampoo bottle in the shower and holy moly. I can’t say half of the words that are ingredients in my own shampoo!! I started going through the whole house writing a list of items that we can toss out and replace with better more natural products. Glass cleaner, tooth paste, shampoo, hand soap, multi-use cleaner, laundry soap, bleach and there are so many more! Most of the products I purchase for my home now have all natural ingredients, but this can get really expensive. SOOOOO this is where my crafty side comes in. DIY! I make a lot of homemade stuff around my house. I started out after I purchased a Young Living Starter Kit and started exploring the world of Essential Oils. This really pushed me to start creating homemade products that I KNOW what the ingredients are. Transforming your house into a nontoxic household takes time. So DON’T RUSH IT! Write a list out like I did and do one thing at a time. There are also apps available such as “Think Dirty” to search a specific household or beauty item and tells you the harsh ingredients in that item. Check it out!
One thing on my list is laundry products; Laundry Detergent, Bleach, and Dryer Sheets. I have been getting the Aldi brand of laundry soap for over two years now. Though better than other laundry detergents this soap isn’t up to my all natural standards.

For my birthday present from one of my daughters, I received a gift card to Ulta. That was a fun birthday present. I wondered around Ulta for an hour trying to decide what I wanted to buy. The problem was, there was way to much I wanted to buy. After a long time, I decided on several items. One of the items I picked out was a yummy smelling Body Sugar Scrub. A shower with a body scrub is just a 100 times better in my book. Makes your skin so soft. It didnt take long to use all of the Birthday Body Sugar Scrub. I got to thinking...... It wouldn't be hard to make my own Body Sugar Scrub. I already have all the ingredients in my cabinet and it will save me money. Also, I will know it is all pure, wholesome ingredients with no additives or chemicals. So I set off to make my own DIY Homemade Body Sugar Scrub. |
